PHC Mini Plug (4lb box) is a mycorrhizal fungal inoculant for potting soils used in miniature container plugs. The concentration of VAM fungal spores is very high to ensure inoculation of each very small plug. There are 288,000 VAM fungi spores per pound (633,000 spores/kg), representing 2 different species. Also included is Myconate (formononetin), a patented stimulant of VAM fungi.

PHC Mini Plug is a highly concentrated, dry mix spore inoculant for establishing vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) symbiosis on roots of plants grown in small container plugs, including trees and shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables. A high propagule concentration is needed to ensure adequate distribution of spores through the medium.
VAM plants have better survival and growth, absorb more nutrients, especially phosphorus and other mineral elements, and have improved abilities to efficiently absorb more water from soil than plants without VAM.
PHC Mini Plug contains spores and other propagules of two different VAM fungi that are compatible with most VAM plants. The spore concentration is very high (288,000 per pound) to ensure inoculation of small containers and plugs. PHC Mini Plug also contains Colonize, our proprietary stimulant of VAM fungi, to promote rapid colonization of the root system. PHC Mini Plug will:
- Improve water uptake and drought tolerance
- Increase absorption of mineral elements
- Improve survival by minimizing "transplant shock
- Improve growth and yield especially under stress
- Improve survival and growth of difficult-to grow plants
Directions for Use:
For most plants, blend PHC Mini Plug thoroughly with potting soil at a rate of 2 pounds per cubic yard. For tomatoes and peppers, use 4 pounds per cubic yard. Avoid high levels of fertilizer, which can inhibit VAM development, and mask its benefits to plants.
